A new sponsor last season for the annual Iowa State - Iowa game brought with it a new design for the trophy given to the winners.
Remember this thing, right?

That led to a fan uproar over the design - for good reason - and the decision to do away the new trophy almost immediately after it was debuted.
The response? How about the "interim" Cy-Hawk trophy which was created after the designers quickly placed a football on top of a block of wood. Good thing it was only an interim trophy because the thing was destroyed in the celebration after Iowa State's triple overtime win.

Now, fans will finally have their say on what will sit in the winner's trophy case for the next year. After almost 500 submissions, the list has been whittled down to just three.
Number one:

Number two:

Number three:

So what do you think? All three look like rather safe plays but I'll go with number two, although number one is currently winning in a landslide at the time of this post with 71.5% of the votes thus far.
Fans will have until April 30th to cast their vote with the winning design being announced shortly after. You can vote at iowacorncyhawkseries.com.
One question I'd like to know after all this, whatever happened with that first trophy? I have a feeling that thing is going to resurface at some point. Local garage sale maybe? You never know, they might be keeping it in safe keeping in case they ever have to break out the interim tag again.
